Book Babette!
Babette will give workshops and lectures to any age group, assessment and advice to students and potential writers and illustrators (e.g. How to get started in Children's Books.)
- She will open functions such as art shows and litary events.
- She will appear at:
- Art and Literary Festivals
- Book Weeks
- Schools
- Other Organisations
- After Dinner Speeches (An Evening of Enchantment with Babette Cole)
- Private tuition can also be arranged.
- Fee £200 per hour plus V.A.T. and travel expenses.

Dear Babette
It was good to hear that you enjoyed yourself on Monday, the children have been buzzing with
enthusiasm and would really like to follow up with the book ideas that we had. The thought of
seeing their work on the website will also be a great incentive for them. The librarian has
also reported that the children have definitely changed in their attitude to the books,
really wanting to investigate them and find out who wrote and illustrated them!
One question I do have, is to do with your signed drawings that we have on the flip chart. We have had several requests for them and of course simply cannot choose who to give them to. I was wondering if we could reproduce them ( I know a good reprographics centre in town) and maybe adding colours, we could sell them to raise money for new books and also use the money to organise the workshop with you in the summer term. Without a doubt this would also inspire the children to write a story to go with the characters in the drawings. We would also like to frame the original drawings for the school. We would like to ask you for official 'permission' due to copywrite issues.
One boy in my class, who has always been reluctant to write, came into school today with a story he had written with a beginning, a middle and an end, complete with super illustrations. Later that day he was asked to write who his favourite author and illustrator was. He replied, 'Me! of course!' His confidence and self esteem is soaring! This is an amazing transformation and one which surely shows us all the real need to have visits from authors such as yourself.
